Wealthsimple Tax is used by students in Financial Literacy 20 and 30 to prepare simulated income tax documents. Follow these instructions for information on how to set up your Wealthsimple Tax user account.

 

Before You Begin

 

Before you can log into Wealthsimple Tax, you will need to set up your Sask DLC Microsoft 365 account. If you have not already done so, please check out this article for instructions.

 

Important Notice - Please Read


Students enrolled in the Sask DLC’s Financial Literacy courses will use Wealthsimple, a taxing filing application software, to enhance their understanding of personal finance and tax filing.

 

For a smooth and secure experience with Wealthsimple's tax filing software, a phone number is a necessary part of the registration process. This requirement is crucial for creating an account and ensuring the safe and efficient use of the software.

 

While Wealthsimple takes extensive measures to safeguard users' data, it's important to note that Sask DLC cannot guarantee the security of any information shared with Wealthsimple. Sask DLC holds no liability for any issues arising from sharing your phone number with Wealth Simple, including data breaches, misuse of information, or any other privacy and security concerns. We encourage you to review Wealthsimple's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use to understand how your information will be used and protected.

 

By continuing the registration process and providing the required contact details, parents and guardians indicate their understanding and acceptance of this policy statement.


Also, it is expected that Sask DLC students will delete their Wealthsimple account when they no longer need it for their course work by following these instructions.

Instructions

 

Step 1: Begin by going to www.wealthsimple.com/en-ca/tax or searching for "Wealthsimple Tax" in a search engine. NOTE: Make sure to go to the Wealthsimple Tax site, not the main Wealthsimple site. 


Step 2: Click the "Start filing" button.



Step 3: Enter your Sask DLC email address. Note: Please enter the minimum amount of personal information required by Wealthsimple Tax to operate. Do not enter an optional preferred name.


Step 4: Enter a password. The password should be unique (not one you have used for any other service) and at least 8 characters long. The site will let you know if the password you choose is sufficiently complex to meet Wealthsimple's requirements.


 

Step 5: Enter a cell phone number that you have access to. If you are under 18, this number should belong to your parent or guardian. Students over 18 can use their own cell phone number. This number will used for multi-step authentication. Whenever you log into Wealthsimple Tax, a code will be send to this phone number to complete the log in process.


Step 6: Click the "Next" button.



Step 7: On the next screen, enter the confirmation code sent to your phone.


Step 8: Click "Next". 



Step 8: You should now be on the Wealthsimple Tax tax year selection page. Select the most recent tax year for your assignment.



Step 9: The next screen will ask for some personal details. DO NOT ENTER ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION HERE! Click "Skip this step" and move on. 



Step 10: Under "Select a plan", click on "Basic" and then "Select".



Step 11: You will see several screens asking you to enter personal information. DO NOT ENTER ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THESE SCREENS! For each screen, click "Skip this step".


 



Step 10: When you are asked to Choose a name for this profile, enter the name given to you by your teacher for your assignment. 



Step 11: Click "Confirm". You can now complete your Financial Literacy assignment according to your teacher's instructions. 



Important: Do not forget to delete your Wealthsimple Tax account when you no longer need it.
