The Distance Learning Centre believes in providing a safe, respectful environment in which students and teachers are able to share responses to topics that may be sensitive and/or potentially controversial. The purpose of this guideline is to outline these expectations.
- Students may be asked to explore worldviews, beliefs, and/or opinions that may differ from personal perspectives. It is not the intent of the Distance Learning Centre to sway beliefs or opinions, but instead to openly explore and analyze topics as to meet the learning outcomes required by Saskatchewan curriculum.
- As such, students are expected to approach topics with an exploratory mindset, seeking to understand differing viewpoints through thoughtful analysis, providing evidence for personal opinions when required.
- Intolerant or racist expressions will not be accepted and will result in the student being asked to redo the assignment. In all cases, parents/guardians will also be contacted.
