In this Help and Information tutorial, you will see hoe to install VitalSource Bookshelf on your windows computer. VitalSource Bookshelf is an e-book reader for your course e-textbook. Bookshelf provides the ability to read, highlight, and bookmark your e-textbook. Additionally, Bookshelf offers text-to-speech for you e-textbook.
Note: This tutorial is for the installation of VitalSource Bookshelf on a Windows computer.

Step 01: Navigate to VitalSource's Download Page
Click the button below to navigate to VitalSource's download page for VitalSource Bookshelf. The download page will open in a new tab.
Step 02: Download the Bookshelf Installation File
Click on the Download, located under the Windows 7\8\10 label, to begin the download process for VitalSource Bookshelf.
Step 03: Save the Installation File
A. Depending on how your browser in sonfigured, the file will download in one of two ways:
- The file automatically download, saving to the Downloads folder on your computer, or
- A window will pop-up asking you where you want to save the file.
B. Take note of the file name BookshelfSetup, when you save the file. You will need to open this file later.
C. Click Save to save the file
Step 04: Open the Installation File
Click on the file to open it, once the download is complete. You will click on the file from the location you saved it to in Step 03.
Step 05: Permit the Installation
When you open the file, you will be prompted that a program is attempting to change your computer. Click Yes to begin the installation
Note: The image above is from Windows 10. If you are using an older version of Windows, you will see a slightly different alert window; however, you will still need to click Yes to permit the installation.
Step 06: Select a Language
A. Upon opening the Bookshelf installation file, you will be prompted to select a language. By default this set to English (United States) but you may wish to select another language from the dropdown menu.
B. Click OK to continue.
Step 07: Begin the Installation
Once the installation begins, a window will open explaining that you are about to install VitalSource Bookshelf. Close all other programs and click Next to begin the installation process.
Step 08: Choose the Installation Location
A. Choose where VitalSource Bookshelf will be installed. By default this is C:Program Files(x86)\VitalSource Bookshelf and I recommend leaving this, unless you have a reason to change it.
B. Click Next to continue
Step 09: Install VitalSource Bookshelf
The next screen of the installation process is the final screen before VitalSource Bookshelf is installed. Click Install to begin the installation
Step 10: Finish the Installation
Click Finish on the final screen to complete the installation of VitalSource Bookshelf
